Chicago O’Hare International Airport (IATA: ORD, ICAO: KORD, FAA LID: ORD) is an airport located in Chicago, Illinois, United States, 17 miles (27 km) northwest of the Chicago Loop. It is the largest hub of United Airlines (whose headquarters is in downtown Chicago) and the second-largest hub of American Airlines (after Dallas/Fort Worth). It is operated by the City of Chicago Department of Aviation, associated with an umbrella regional authority.

For 12-month period ending 12/31/2005 the airport had 972,246 aircraft operations, an average of 2,663 per day (64% scheduled commercial, 33% air taxi, 3% general aviation and <1% military).[1] Prior to 2005, O'Hare was the world's busiest airport in terms of takeoffs and landings. That year, mainly due to limits imposed by the federal government to reduce flight delays at O'Hare,[3] Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport became the busiest. O'Hare currently accounts for over a sixth of the nation's total flight cancellations.[4] Currently, O'Hare International Airport is the second busiest airport in the United States in terms of traffic, and the second in the world with 76,248,911 passengers passing through the airport in 2006; a -0.3% change from 2005. [5] O'Hare also has a strong international presence, with flights to more than 60 foreign destinations. O'Hare was ranked fourth in 2005 of the United States' international gateways, with only John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City, Los Angeles International Airport, and Miami International Airport serving more foreign destinations.

Here is a good wifi connection “how to” guide for Chicago’s O’Hare airport: O’Hare wifi connection “how to”

It has a step by step direction which make connecting to O’Hare wifi network super easy!

WATCH OUT! If you sign up for a month at BOINGO, you have to cancel – they keep billing you forever, otherwise.

I don’t see how O’Hare got this high a rating. The internet quality was fine, but there are many other airports where it is just as good, and free.

  • Dingas

I find it absolutely absurd that O’Hare charges for wi fi service in the airport. People spend billions of dollars traveling through it every year. The least they could do to show some gratitude is to offer it free like many other large and small airports around the world do.

  • Stan

Totally absurd that free access is not standard here. I found pay for use only. Even small airports now offer free wi-fi. Very, very stupid policy.

  • YG

Trying to make money? Shame on you, ORD, because you are making yourself a fossil.

  • JimMartin

Because of NO FREE WIFI, I am going to avoid travel through Chicago airport as much as possible !

  • disappointed traveler

So embarrassing that America’s second busiest airport does not offer free WiFi. O’Hare is primitive in comparison to other international airports.

  • camaroona

Typical American corporate greed … world class airports elsewhere offer free wifi, why not ORD? Unless of course they don’t see themselves as world-class

  • brother

brother, that O’Hare wifi connection link is dead…

  • ssam

This airport is stupid. No free wifi. Even Mc Donalds has free wifi access. For communication, international passengers has to suffer alot. ORD has to think about it. Cheap brains to make money on internet access. Hate ORD

  • Frequent Traveler

No free wifi at ohare? Are you kidding me? I’ll choose another airport next time

  • disgusting Chicago

Ohare still charges for Wi-Fi after the initial 20 minute complimentary service. It sucks to see such a big airport being so commercial compared to other smaller airports smaller(sfo, Minneapolis) providing the service for free.

  • Deanna Diehl Gann

Good luck with that. If you want to fly SAS to Stockholm you don’t have much of a choice.

  • Outraged in ord

No free wifi?!? So stupid! Come on this is one of the busiest airports in America!

  • tom hudak

Having to frequently travel between portland and cleveland, I am now making a point of avoiding O Hare because of their ridiculous wi fi policy.

  • Winky

Anyone one how to cancel the wifi plan?

  • tbanting

No free WiFi? In this century? Chicago, get with the times!
