Singapore Airlines to offer in-flight mobile calling, texting & Wi-Fi

Singapore Airline In-flight CallingSingapore airlines announces that it will start equipping its fleet of aircraft, the necessary equipment and technology to allow mobile calling, texting and in-flight Wi-Fi starting in 2011. Even though in-flight calling has been around for a long time, this new partnership between Singapore airlines, OnAir (In-flight Telephone Company) and Inmarsat will allow passengers to make and receive calls, send and receive SMS text directly from their GSM mobile phone. With this new in-flight service, Singapore airlines will also offer in-flight Wi-Fi to other Wi-Fi enable devices. Singapore will begin to add this service to their Airbus A380, Airbus A340-500 and Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in early 2011. Source from engadget.com.
