Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport (IATA: SJC, ICAO: KSJC, FAA LID: SJC) is a medium-sized airport in San Jose, California. It is located at the north end of the city, near the intersections of three major freeways, Highway 101, Interstate 880, and Highway 87.

Despite San Jose’s position as the most populous city in the San Francisco Bay Area, SJC is the smallest of the three Bay Area airports offering scheduled service, with less than one third the passengers of the region’s major international airport San Francisco International Airport (SFO), and slightly fewer passengers than Oakland International Airport (OAK). Like Oakland airport, it attracts suburban residents who find SFO to be inconveniently distant from their homes. It also serves as a "reliever" airport, providing access to the Bay Area market for discount carriers, such as Southwest, that are unwilling to deal with the delays due to weather, especially fog, that plague SFO.

    On May 29, 2008 SJC airport announced that its WiFi service at the two airport terminals are available for Free for the public.

    SJC will offer their free WiFi service with the free “virtual private network” security application that helps encrypts the data transfer over the airport WiFi network.

    The WiFi service at San Jose airport will be Free, however, there will be advertisements/sponsorships messages that comes along with this free WiFi service.

    WiFi service at SJC airport terminals from Wayport, Boingo and T-Mobile will continued to be available to the subscribers.

    The prices for these paid WiFi service at San Jose International Airport will be as follow:

    Wayport: $6.95 Daily and $29.95 Monthly
    Boingo: $7.95 Daily and $21.95 Monthly
    T-Mobile: $6.00 Hourly, $9.99 Daily and $39.99 Monthly

    It’s free now as of, at least, late 2008. Coverage seemed to be fine in the terminal areas.
